Finding My Voice in the Noise – Week 1 of My CVAP Journey
Week 1 of my journey in the Certified Voice Artist Program has been both exciting and overwhelming. As someone who is naturally shy, stepping into a space where voice and expression are the focus feels like a big challenge, but also something I’m genuinely curious about.
During the first session, we were introduced to the basics of voice artistry and also got the chance to interact with fellow participants. From creating our group identity to sharing our introductions, everything felt new, but at the same time, meaningful. It made me realize that this journey is not just about skills, but also about connection and growth.
One of the things that stood out to me was debunking common myths in voice acting. I used to think that having a “good voice” or being able to imitate others was enough, but I learned that it’s much deeper than that. Voice artistry requires creativity, imagination, discipline, and the right mindset. It’s not just about speaking—it’s about expressing with purpose.
Another thing that really stood out to me was what Trainer Navi shared—that our voices shouldn’t just have a price, but value. I realized that while I already saw voice acting as something driven by passion, this perspective gave it more depth. It’s not just about loving what you do, but also about building your skills and creating something meaningful that people can connect with.
In the afternoon session, we were also introduced to multimedia production. This made me realize that being a voice artist is not just about speaking, but also about understanding how content is created and presented. From audio to video, everything plays a role in delivering a message effectively. It showed me that I still have a lot to learn, not just in using my voice, but also in how I create and share content. In addition to the discussions and activities during the session, we were also given weekly Skill Building Exercises (SBX) to work on independently since training only happens every Saturday. These tasks are designed to gradually help us build our identity and discipline as aspiring voice artists. At first, it felt like a lot to take in, but I realized that they are meant to encourage consistency, creativity, and self-expression beyond the training sessions. Rather than focusing on performance alone, the exercises push us to explore different aspects of voice artistry and personal branding, which made me see the learning process as something more holistic.
One thing I didn’t expect during the training was being asked questions multiple times. It really caught me off guard. I’m more used to listening than speaking, so being put in that situation made me feel uncomfortable at first. But at the same time, I realized that this is part of the process—learning to step out of my comfort zone and actually use my voice.
Personally, this week made me reflect on myself. As someone who tends to stay quiet, I realized that having a voice is not about being loud. It’s about choosing to express, even when it feels uncomfortable. This idea is actually what inspired my voice brand, “GeAmazing Noise”—a reminder that even someone quiet can create something worth hearing.
Moving forward, I know I still have a lot to improve, especially in confidence and expression. But I’m excited to continue this journey, step by step, and slowly become more comfortable using my voice. This is just the beginning, and I’m ready to make my own kind of noise.
